My birfday!

...It was last Tuesday. BUT, I started this post on the day of...
and didn't get around to finishing until...well, now. So here 'tis:

Yes siree!

Though surprisingly, I'm not as into it this year as I've always been. Not sure why...it's not the big 3-0 or anything...it's the 2 to tha 6! haha

Anyways, my hormones were all outta whack last week -- and that's always when craziness happens, right? Well, R's BFF L had a happy hour thing goin' on Friday...and some of us were going. Well, like I'd sort of expected, FL was there...with his fiance. Awesome! But, I kinda figured it'd be that way, so it wasn't total shock and I was hoping she wouldn't totally ignore me this time. L introduced us, but FL quickly interrupted to say that we'd met before. We exchanged 'hellos' again, and I followed to FL's statement, "Yeah, but it was for like...5 minutes last time." We all exchanged little shrugs as if to say, "Ah yeah."

So there was about 7 of us total at the very beginning. Beer towers were involved. Then, two of L's work friends showed up. They were a little boring, so I was texting one of my best girls to hurry up and get her ass there to meet me.

Somehow, in a short span of time...I was hammered. Of course, though...really? Like that wouldn't happen. Beer towers upon more beer, and vodka cocktails, and shots. Jager bombs, duh! Which...who bought a whole round? I did! I was losing inhibitions, uh oh. Finally, my friend got there, and the other was on the way, texting me to drink water.

Did I? Nope. (She asked me too, about 2 hours later if I did indeed drink water. And I told her nope, too.)

So, we're all hanging out...L and his girlfriend actually left. I don't know that I even really realized it. I end up talking to FL and his fiance. Really, who even knows what I was yammering about. All I remember is her all of a sudden taking a picture of FL and I. I probably also invited them to my birthday celebration.

More time goes on, I'm waltzing around the place hammered talking to everyone in our fairly large group. Next thing I know...I'm crying! Hysterically! WTF?!?!?! Of course, I was drunkenly upset and having a hard time about FL and his fiance...but I had to hide that from R. So, when he asked what was wrong, I was telling him the drunken-ness and hormones weren't mixing well. After a few more minutes, I'm laughing at the same time as my crying! Ridick, I tell you.

Finally, we left the place, so me, R, and my dear friend M went to another bar before going home. Course, I didn't need any more, but another dear friend was in town and I had to see her (even if it was for only 25 minutes that I hardly remember)! Ha! Great times. Wow.

Don't Yell at Me Through Your TV

Last night was quite eventful, in the way of a scary movie. You ever find yourself in a situation where you're like, "Whoa! This right now could be a weird F'd up scary movie!" and from that point on, you kind of freak yourself out?

That's what happened to me last night. One of my girlfriends came over to the house last night since I have the entire house to myself until Saturday. We had a couple cocktails and were just chatting and catching up since she'd just gotten back from a cruise.

We were sitting out on the deck, it was a really nice night outside. Suddenly, I realized that the lights inside the "barn" (kind of like a huge work garage we call the barn), were on! I don't know why I suddenly noticed it, or how long it'd been that way. I interrupt her story and we look over to the barn and at the same time hear what was most likely my neighbor yelling at his dog. But when you're half-drunk and think someone is in your garage (don't know who!) and hear yelling, it all kinda comes together like, "Whoa shit, what's going on?" hahaha

After a few minutes, I 'push-to-talked' my cousin that works with me and my dad. I asked him if he was in the barn. He wasn't. Hmmm.....

Did not see any vehicle outside that should not be there.

Cousin says one of the guys (from here at work) probably just left the light on from earlier going in there to get job materials. Hmmmm....

Yes, I knew that he was probably right, but remember I'm kind of buzzed up.
I tell him, "Okay, well I have a friend here with me, we'll go check it out."

Friend was pretty scared, but I am not sure if I could have done it by myself. Plus, I told her it was a Halloween adventure!!! I got shoes on, we opened up our garage and trekked over to the barn.
We have a secret lock combo thing to get the key to get into the barn. So, while I'm doing that getting the key for us, I can hear a phone ringing inside the barn!

We finally get in, turn on the light and yell out "Hellooooo?!" No answer and no more phone ringing. We cautiously move about and look around. Even had to go to the upstairs part. At one point, I even thought that maybe, just maybe, my stepdad was playing some sort of trick on me! But, I immediately dismissed the thought, knowing that that would be too far over the line even for him when it comes to scary pranks. Mom would never let him pull that one off! I said, "Hmmmm...I guess one of the guys did leave the light on...maybe I didn't hear a phone," I said.
"No, I heard that phone too," she said.

That was a little creepy. "Okay, so there was a phone ringing", I thought in my head. We walked around a bit again when friend notices, "Hey, here's a phone right here on the wall, you shithead!!" she says.

I laughed pretty hard, at first she thought I'd been messing with her, but I told her I really didn't know what was up and didn't even realize there was a phone right there! So, the house phone had been ringing and that's what we heard. Still a little weird because no one really calls the house...they call cells. I know or I'm sure that a lot of sales calls come through that line, like 800 numbers and what not, but I still liked to keep it a little bit freaky, I guess ("ooooh creepy! The house phone is ringing.....it's a dead zone!"). She said that was her "haunted house" for the year. Ha!

But, if it were an actual scary movie, you probably would have yelled at us through your televisions, because we were kind of stupid about it all. Kind of the typical old-school-scary -movie-stupid-actors-etc. thing goin' on. I even had grabbed a huge aerosol can of glass cleaner from the shelf to take when I checked the upstairs! Bad-ass.

How Easily Conversations Take a Quick Turn...

So, I know it's been awhile. I feel bad because there's a ton I should be catching everyone up on. BUT, now isn't the time.

Today, I want to write about how funny it is when you're just chatting away and how easily one subject can turn into another.

Last night, I went over to my friend's house for a little bit to chill outside and have a beer or two. One of the local owners of a bar sadly just passed away. Pretty much everyone in town knew him or of him. Well, I was telling my friend that I'd gone to the funeral, as I told him about the rest of my life lately. We started talking about how all kinds of people have been kickin' the bucket lately.

For example, George Carlin died not too long ago. LeRoi Moore, the saxophone player for Dave Matthews Band, passed away. Bernie Mac. Isaac Hayes.

We went from talking about Isaac Hayes, and how he's the voice of 'Chef' on South Park...to how he didn't want to do South Park anymore after they made fun of Tom Cruise and Scientology, because he's a Scientologist.

THEN, we said, "You know who else is a Scientologist?....Lisa Marie Presley!!!" And how odd it was for her to be involved with that since Elvis sang tons upon tons of gospel music.

THEN, my friend began the adventure of telling me all kinds of things about Elvis' life that I hadn't known. I did know that he met Priscilla when she was only 16. That he waited until they were married to take his virginity. I knew her parents weren't very thrilled about the whole shebang...but...my friend and I concluded, "But...he's ELVIS!!! He can do whatever the hell he wants!!!! No one can tell Elvis 'no!'"

It was hilarious. We were pretending to be Elvis..."Uh..lookie here, I am going to take your daughter to be my wife, and take care of her...either you can go along with it and I'll buy ya a nice house...or you can be mad, have nothing, and I'm still gonna take her as my wife..."

...."cuz I'm Elvis, bitches."

P.S. The Elvis conversation went on for a good...oh, I'd say 40 minutes. (hahahahaha)

That's it for now! Hope everyone's well!

Update

How was everyone's 4th of July? Mine was a complete jumble of fun. I stayed in the night before so I'd be good to go nice & early. So, I got to my friend's apartment at about 10:30 in the morn, had a beer and a shot of tequila. (It's been tradition since last year that we do a shot of tequila on the morning of the 4th of July...and we do them in pairs, and slap each other in the face after downing it...crazy, I know! But unbelievably funny!)

Then, the huge group of us walk down the streets during the town's parade and stop and see masses of people we know. We make our way to a bar where pretty much everyone knows our names, and have a few shots. Then, we stand outside the bar with our beers and chat with more friends that have met up with us. After a couple hours, R and I try to figure out what we're going to do. I was supposed to stop out at the family picnic, but it was about a half hour away in the opposite direction of the city, and R really was dying to see the speedboats racing in the city that afternoon.

So, we go back to his apartment, and start the celebration with a new crew. Now, it was R and I, his roommate and his brother (my best guy friend). We make a really fantastic foursome when we all go out, it's hilarious. Oh, before we left we waited on this girl Natalie that best guy friend is sort of dating. She arrives, and we all leave to go see speedboats. Once in the city, we meet up with another friend of ours and his girlfriend. We all are standing on the bridge watching the boats and chugging beers. Then, we go to this bar that has a beer pong table (awesome!) and act like idiots for a little while before heading to some of our usual haunts.

By this time, most of us are quite wasted. That's pretty much where the story ends because after that, all hell broke loose. R and I were going to get a cab home, while best guy friend, his girl, and our other friend couple were going to get pizza and bring it back to the apartment. R's roommate had a few girls from his old job show up and he wanted to hang out with them for a bit. He said they'd probably all come back to the apartment soon, and he'd take a cab.

5:30 AM -- R's phone rings. I hear him talking in his serious voice. His roommate had gotten a D.U.I. Ughhhhhhh. How terrible. We felt really, really bad. But, everyone was sleeping and to be honest, still a bit too drunk to drive and pick him up. So, the next afternoon he called for R to pick him up. He'd wrecked the car, not bad, but still. We were upset and baffled that he drove since we are usually smart enough to get cabs. But, no one was with him, and I guess he probably didn't want to get a cab by himself. But now, he feels terrible and is really down on himself especially since he is trying to be a teacher. He has a hearing tomorrow, so we'll see what happens. Needless to say, he hasn't wanted to come out with us or have any beers and he said he probably won't for awhile. He didn't even come out of his room for around 2 days. So, it won't be the fantastic foursome for a little while. Poor guy. Guess ya live and learn though. But, he's chippered up a little bit and has been joking around again, so that's good.

I do have more to tell about recent events, but I think this is enough for today! Hope everyone is well!

The Scent of Happiness

My book signing Friday night went completely fabulously. R and I arrived an hour or so ahead of time. My mom, step dad, 3 of their longtime friends, along with my Uncle and his girlfriend were all there at a table for dinner reservations. Then, R and I went into the back where we found his parents, grandparents, a couple cousins, and even an Aunt that brought her book club! My great aunt and uncle were also back there along with another family friend.

It was already insanity for me! I got a little anxious, but was okay. R sat with his family, and I returned to where mom was to sit down. I only ordered a salad because I didn't want to be stuffed during the evening.

More and more family and friends began to show. The owner of the Inn had the "music room" set up with tables, hors d' ouevres, and a special table with a huge chair for me to sit in and sign books. The first 45 minutes was pure chaos. Everyone was coming up and having me sign and personalize books. But, what was worse is that my Aunt was temporarily M.I.A. and she was supposed to be taking care of the money part for me.

Once she returned, things weren't as bad. And once I had a short little break, I could finally start sipping on my pinot grigio.

Once the signing was all finished, I got to go around and talk to people finally. I felt bad that I didn't get a chance to talk to some people (like the ex b/f's mom and grandma), but they understood. It was so nice that so many people came. I sold probably around 85 out of 120 books. Some people that I had thought would come didn't, so if they had, I probably would have sold out.

Oh, and R's parents and my parents met for the first time. I really wasn't worried or anything though. Both of our parents are quite laid back and funny characters.

AND, supposedly my cousin caught an outline of a figure on the stairwell when taking pictures!!! Everyone was talking about it, but I haven't gotten to see it yet! How exciting! (The Inn where the signing was at is haunted, and is also on the cover of the book...I'm friends with the owner.)

We all went into the bar area and celebrated. A guy that is always there and loves to play the guitar wrote a song for me about ghosts. It was really cool. It was one of those moments where you are like, "Wow! This is great, I am so thankful, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now." My eyes teared up, too. lol. It really was a great night.

My mom and step dad left at about 11:30 and R and I left at about midnight. The only people left were the owner and a few staff members, my dad and his girlfriend, and my step dad's brother and girlfriend. Oh, and the guitar guy and his girlfriend...(who I did a delicious shot with, she suggested it...it's called 'sex on a bayou').

Also, my mom and step dad got me a couple congratulatory gifts. One is a bracelet on a black thin leather string with a silver id tag on it that says "thrill amaze inspire". It's really cool, and very me. AND, with a little help from L out in Vegas, mom also picked up Michael Kors "Island Capri" perfume that came with a blue clutch! Which was awesome for a few reasons:

1. I love Michael Kors

2. I love anything 'island' or 'beach' or 'ocean'

3. I needed a new scent!

Here's a picture of it!!!

Hi.

Sorry if you've noticed I haven't posted or anything lately. It really hasn't been THAT long, but -- might feel like it is.
Anyways, I've been so super busy, and nothing notably too funny or interesting has come about for me to share.
Here's a quick run-down though of what I've been up to:

1. I have a 'friend' - one of those kinds that are kind of manipulative and try pathetically and desperately to be BFF's with all of your friends. Yeah. Not fun. Quite annoying. And she thinks she's in love with one of our guy friends in the group.

2. The boyfriend's bro is one of my best friends. He decided to propose to his g/f of 2 months. She hasn't even met the 'rents yet. He just got out of a serious relationship about 4 months prior to their dating. He's been very immature. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Then, R got angry with me for not telling him his brother got engaged. But, I explained that I have to keep his trust, we're best friends. Definitely don't wanna be in the middle of this BS.

3. Work has been crazy busy. My eyeballs hurt at the end of every day in the office.

4. I'd like to get a new winter coat, new boots, and maybe 2 new pairs of jeans. No such luck yet.

5. Today is my friend's birthday. Went to Pier 1 to get her b-day/new apartment present. Dinner to celebrate is Saturday, where said 'friend' in #1 will be in attendance as well. (But the b-day friend isn't a 'stolen' one...they've been friends, too. lol.)

Umm, think that's about it for now. Be baaack sooooon!

Decision making is BS

Today has been a hell of a day. And it's only 2:00. Yesterday, late afternoon, I decided that I want to go to the O.A.R. concert tonight. I was listening to their live cd, it was a nice day, and it made me happy and really want to drink some beers.
So, my friend 'B' and I went over our friend 'Nutty's' house. Nutty had gotten a case of the new Miller Chill beer (sooo delicious, by the way!). Perfect. Plus, he had the O.A.R. cd's too, so we could sit outside and listen to them, which to me, is the epitome of summer.
Nutty says, "You have to come to the concert tomorrow, it's gonna be the best of the summer!" I'm like, "I know, I know...I have to figure it out."
The boyfriend, R, says he can get out of work early to go! Awesome. But...R won't get done til 7:30. Concert starts at 7:00.
So, I convince B to go, too. We'll go in together, meet up with Nutty and company, then R can come meet us when he gets done. That way, we can pre-game it up a little bit!
Nooo...turns out B has to babysit.
Okay...so -- I don't wanna wait on R to get outta work and go late. And I don't really wanna go with Nutty, because it's kinda like a couple's thing, and I don't even know the other people going.
So then...I get a message from my friend J, who is moving to VA Beach this weekend. Well, tomorrow I'm leaving to go see my mom for the weekend, and she was planning on getting everyone together for dinner and drinks. So, that's a negative. But, tonight, she's going to the baseball game and then out for drinks.
Okay...so -- do I want to try to meet up with her, then? Yes. Since it's my only chance to see her.
Then, what luck -- friend E calls & has 4 tickets to the baseball game! Okay! We'll go, and we'll hang out with J, too! Awesomeness.
Now I am going to have to deal with R's whining, though. "Well, can't you guys wait for me?" The game starts at 7:05. He won't be home until like 7:45.
He texts, "Am I going too?" and I said, "I don't know, why are you asking me? If you want to, you can meet us."
R: "Well, do I get one of the tickets?"
me: "How should I know? Text E, she offered them first come, first serve, lol"
R: "Well will you call her & tell her. You didn't include me? Are you serious?"

Excuse me, are YOU serious? WTF????? You will still be at work. You know I am mainly going so I can hang out with J before she moves. To be honest, I'm not really worried about whether you come or not. Yup, actually, I kind of wish you weren't. Why do you have to be up my ass! We're going to be in a car together tomorrow for 8 hours.
*These are all things I want to yell out!*

AGHHHH! He just called me, and I didn't answer. Now he's texting, "Busy?"
Yes. I'm busy. Busy blogging about you!

Let's Pretend That Never Happened

I need to take a break from drinking alcohol. I went out Thursday night, Friday, Saturday, AND LAST NIGHT. I never go out on Sunday's but all my friends wanted to meet up to watch the hockey game, and I hate missing out on stuff. I think I'm catching a cold, so I drank Bloody Mary's --- hey, I'm a smart alcoholic.

Anyways, I ended up kinda-sorta propositioning a friend.

This friend, I've developed some sort of crush on, and can't get it to go away.

But, I'm trying. Well, I was.

Guess that part fell through when I invited him over last night after we'd all been out drinking.

Thank goodness he said "raincheck" and I know he was just being nice.

Because that...can't happen.

But, my head hurts. I'm tired.
