Update

How was everyone's 4th of July? Mine was a complete jumble of fun. I stayed in the night before so I'd be good to go nice & early. So, I got to my friend's apartment at about 10:30 in the morn, had a beer and a shot of tequila. (It's been tradition since last year that we do a shot of tequila on the morning of the 4th of July...and we do them in pairs, and slap each other in the face after downing it...crazy, I know! But unbelievably funny!)

Then, the huge group of us walk down the streets during the town's parade and stop and see masses of people we know. We make our way to a bar where pretty much everyone knows our names, and have a few shots. Then, we stand outside the bar with our beers and chat with more friends that have met up with us. After a couple hours, R and I try to figure out what we're going to do. I was supposed to stop out at the family picnic, but it was about a half hour away in the opposite direction of the city, and R really was dying to see the speedboats racing in the city that afternoon.

So, we go back to his apartment, and start the celebration with a new crew. Now, it was R and I, his roommate and his brother (my best guy friend). We make a really fantastic foursome when we all go out, it's hilarious. Oh, before we left we waited on this girl Natalie that best guy friend is sort of dating. She arrives, and we all leave to go see speedboats. Once in the city, we meet up with another friend of ours and his girlfriend. We all are standing on the bridge watching the boats and chugging beers. Then, we go to this bar that has a beer pong table (awesome!) and act like idiots for a little while before heading to some of our usual haunts.

By this time, most of us are quite wasted. That's pretty much where the story ends because after that, all hell broke loose. R and I were going to get a cab home, while best guy friend, his girl, and our other friend couple were going to get pizza and bring it back to the apartment. R's roommate had a few girls from his old job show up and he wanted to hang out with them for a bit. He said they'd probably all come back to the apartment soon, and he'd take a cab.

5:30 AM -- R's phone rings. I hear him talking in his serious voice. His roommate had gotten a D.U.I. Ughhhhhhh. How terrible. We felt really, really bad. But, everyone was sleeping and to be honest, still a bit too drunk to drive and pick him up. So, the next afternoon he called for R to pick him up. He'd wrecked the car, not bad, but still. We were upset and baffled that he drove since we are usually smart enough to get cabs. But, no one was with him, and I guess he probably didn't want to get a cab by himself. But now, he feels terrible and is really down on himself especially since he is trying to be a teacher. He has a hearing tomorrow, so we'll see what happens. Needless to say, he hasn't wanted to come out with us or have any beers and he said he probably won't for awhile. He didn't even come out of his room for around 2 days. So, it won't be the fantastic foursome for a little while. Poor guy. Guess ya live and learn though. But, he's chippered up a little bit and has been joking around again, so that's good.

I do have more to tell about recent events, but I think this is enough for today! Hope everyone is well!

I got a DUI when I moved here to Vegas and it definitely sucked.
